Lamisi Dabire from Triple-S Ghana asks the Akatsi Water and Sanitation Board, in the Volta Region, of Ghana, how they are making their decisions. William Atimu, Akatsi Water Board Chairman, explains how they have sorted their finances but says that price rises are inevitable.

Attempts in the past to increase the cost of water was met with strong resistance from the community. However,  Mr Atimu is determined to convince the water users of the need for the price increases. Seth Damasah, District Water and Sanitation Engineer, says that prices will double but that water will still be cheap. "They are using the life-cycle costs approach to identify their costs.”
