Abstract | The seed of the drumstick plant (Moringaceae), which grows in India, Africa, South America and many Asian countries, has been investigated as a natural coagulant for water purification. Seeds were harvested from fully matured\AB plants, dried and powdered. Experimental turbidities up to 300 NTU and pH to 9.2 were used during the experimental phase. A dose of 100 mg/l of seed powder was found to lower the turbidity to 5 NTU, a value comparable to alum\AB up to pH 7.0. At pHs above and below the effective range of alum, the seed powder was found to be superior in performance. |
