| Abstract | It has long been known that potable water and good sanitation are two of the most important factors in community health. But until recently, the direct interrelationship between water supply, sanitation, and child survival had not been examined. Water supply projects are becoming more comprehensive; more integrated with other facets of development. Models for integrating child survival into water and sanitation projects, and vice versa, are discussed in this publication. Enhancing factors and obstacles to this linkage concerning policy, management, and community factors are presented, followed by an outline for linkage development. Case studies from African, South and Central American and Asian countries are discussed in the Appendices. |
