Abstract

This brochure describes the background to the OECD Principles on Water Governance, how they can contribute to improving the “Water Governance Cycle” from policy design to implementation, how they were developed. The Principles were welcomed by Ministers at the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting on 4 June 2015.

The OECD Principles on Water Governance, 12 in total, are based on three mutually reinforcing and complementary dimensions of water governance: effectiveness, efficiency and trust and engagement as summarised in the overview below:
