Abstract

This presentation (available as a PowerPoint and video) looks at the pathways under which "utilitisation" of rural water supply takes place; which actors and factors drive "utilitisation" of rural water supply, does utilitisation of rural water supply improve rural water services (coverage and service levels), and what are the challenges and how can (and have) these be overcome. It draws from a 2021 IRC thematic overview paper, which is based on the mapping of some 32 "models" of utility managed rural water supply from 22 countries.
